PROTECTING EXTERIOR DOORS FROM REMOVAL
Allen & Allen Company sells special hinges for doors that open to the outside called “non removable pin” or NRP hinges. These hinges are used to prevent someone from removing the pin that is exposed to the exterior which in turn would allow for removal of the door. One easy way to make sure that the door cannot be removed is to take out the center screw on both leafs of the hinge and to insert a 16 common nail with the head cut off. Nail this into the hole where the screw was and leave it sticking out approximately 3/8”. When the door is closed the nail will extend into the door and thus not allow it to be removed.
